He has struggled to keep the project afloat, but unlike other developers has not abandoned his effort; construction is wrapping up on one tower and the lofts.<\/em><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_517\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-517\" class=\"size-full wp-image-517\" src=\"https:\/\/astanienterprises.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/sonny_concerto.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"198\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-517\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sonny Astani<\/p><\/div>\n<p id=\"yui_3_17_2_1_1591574947877_161\" class=\"\"><strong id=\"yui_3_17_2_1_1591574947877_164\">Biggest Challenge:<\/strong>\u00a0Trying to finish and sell a $300 million multiphase, high-rise mixed-use project in downtown L.A. all while expecting that my construction lender may be taken over by the FDIC any Friday at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Notable Deals:<\/strong>\u00a0I was very fortunate to have refinanced a half-dozen of our larger apartment buildings with Freddie Mac before the meltdown occurred.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Secret of Success:<\/strong>\u00a0We are a small, flexible and lean operator. We are one of a few groups in L.A. that is an owner, developer, builder and manager of multifamily properties and condominiums.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Sage Advice:<\/strong>\u00a0I usually talk to my wife, she knows everything.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Stress Release:<\/strong>\u00a0I have practiced martial arts, tai chi and yoga for the past 20 years. But I have recently taken up wrestling and ocean swimming, which is an indication of my state of mind: \u201csurvival.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Recession\u2019s Silver Lining:<\/strong>\u00a0People in general are more reasonable and easier to work with, the exception being my kids and my bank.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>End of Downturn:<\/strong>\u00a0Sadly it will come to an end when we have become so accustomed to it that we stop asking the question.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Recent Splurge:<\/strong>\u00a0(On) trainers and shrinks.
